AIMA NSW Eid al Fitr Dinner + Networking Night

By Abdul Kadir Bhajikhara, 3rd Year Medical Student, Macquarie University

On the 28 March 2026, we welcomed over 70 healthcare students and professionals to the newly opened Yarra Centre in the epicentre of Parramatta to celebrate the end of Ramadan!

The Eid Al Fitr Dinner + Networking Night began with an introduction from the MC – Abdul Kadir (Treasurer), who welcomed and introduced the proceedings of the event to those in attendance. Omar (AIMA Co-President) then gave an insight into the niyaat (intention) behind the night. Amidst the backdrop of the current state of the world Omar taught us that in times of strife we need our spirits to be uplifted, and we do that by collectively celebrating with our family and loved ones. Dr Aflah Roohullah (MBCH, FRACP, PhD) advocated for more action and passionately spoke about the need of a metaphorical “engine” amongst the youth within Muslim organisations. After we congregated for prayer, Aiman and Sabah (General and University Representatives) then hosted an exciting Medical School Bingo which encouraged those in attendance to learn more about those who were on their table. Afterwards, the sponsor of the event (Mecca Property Group) talked about the importance of investing.

We were spoilt for dinner on the night! The attendees were served a delicious spread of fragrant Kabouli Palau, rich beef curry, flavourful chicken, and dessert cups in tiramisu, cookies and cream, and chocolate.

The event concluded with the attendees gathering for a memorable group photo.

Indeed, the night was wonderful, may Allah (swt) accept the fasts of all those who attended and made this event possible.
