The Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) South Australia hosted an inspiring professional development evening titled “Identity Leads, Behaviour Follows” at Good Social Café, Adelaide.
Over 40 healthcare professionals, students, and allied health practitioners gathered for an evening of reflection, learning, and connection in a warm, welcoming setting complemented by delicious food and barista coffee.
The event’s MC Dr Jahangir who is a GP in training and AIMA SA executive welcomed guests and invited dentistry student Muhammad Keswany to open the event with Qur’an recitation.
This was followed by a thought-provoking Tarbiyyah Talk on “Aligning the Healer Within: Niyyah and Professional Identity” delivered by Dr Azlina Aisha, who highlighted the importance of intention and spiritual awareness in healthcare practice.
Guest speaker Dr Omer Shareef, AIMA National Leadership Vice President, travelled from Townsville to deliver the keynote address, exploring how authentic leadership begins with self-awareness and how aligning identity with purpose shapes professional integrity and impact.
The evening concluded with Maghrib prayers, dinner, and a vibrant group discussion. Participants shared reflections on how faith-based values can inspire purposeful leadership and ethical behaviour in their professional lives.
The event successfully reinforced AIMA’s vision of nurturing compassionate, value-driven Muslim healthcare professionals dedicated to serving the community with excellence and sincerity.
