On Friday 10 April 2026, AIMA South Australia’s student branch brought together Muslim health students at Unley Town Hall for an Eid Gala Dinner celebrating the end of Ramadan with food, connection, and meaningful conversation.
The evening centred on a panel discussion exploring issues facing Muslims in healthcare, featuring an accomplished line-up of guest speakers: Dr Yakin, Associate Professor at Adelaide School of Dentistry; Nur Aydin, Registered General Psychologist; Dr Abdul Shaikh, Gastroenterologist; Zineb Yassini, Registered Nurse; Angelica-Hazel Maria Toutounji, Women’s Health and Fertility Nutritionist; and Laya Mahmoud, Oral Health Therapist.
Beyond the panel, the night gave students the chance to network, unwind, and build friendships with like-minded peers across the health disciplines, creating a warm and welcoming space to celebrate Eid as a community.
The event reflects AIMA SA Students’ ongoing commitment to supporting and connecting Muslim health students throughout their studies and careers.
