On Thursday 30 April 2026, AIMA hosted “Islamophobia in Healthcare” at Oakwood Premier Melbourne, with the event reaching full capacity with over 80 attending.
The evening brought together members for an honest and reflective discussion on the realities of Islamophobia within the healthcare sector. For some attendees the conversation was confronting; for others, it was eye-opening — but for everyone, it created a space to share their thoughts openly, without fear or prejudice. Alhamdulillah.
The session featured guest speakers Professor Dr Muhammad Aziz Rahman, Professor of Public Health and Associate Dean of Research at Federation University Australia, Dr Yassir Morsi, Lecturer at La Trobe University in the Indigenous Department and School Psychologist at the Australian International Academy, and Sheikh Bakr Al Saudi, who generously shared their knowledge and wisdom on the topic, sparking meaningful dialogue among those in attendance.
