The Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA) represents the many Muslim healthcare professionals who form an integral part of Australia’s health workforce. AIMA embodies the rich diversity of this community, bringing together individuals from a wide range of disciplines, specialties, experience levels, ethnic backgrounds, and regions nationwide.

With over 1,500 members and 10+ active chapters across Australia, AIMA is dedicated to fostering connection, collaboration, and representation for Muslim healthcare professionals throughout the country.

The mission of AIMA is to build a strong, connected network of Muslim healthcare professionals committed to advancing health and wellbeing through service, education, and compassion. We are dedicated to supporting communities in need, both within Australia and abroad, through charitable health initiatives, education, and outreach. Our network includes doctors, dentists, nurses, pharmacists, allied health professionals, public health experts, mental health professionals, researchers, paramedics, and students across all healthcare disciplines, working together to serve with excellence and empathy.

National Conferences

The AIMA National Conference is the largest gathering of Muslim healthcare professionals in Australia, bringing together members from across the country for unparalleled opportunities in networking, collaboration, and professional development.

Lifesavers

Lifesavers is a global initiative of FIMA (Federation of Islamic Medical Associations) uniting healthcare professionals and serving local communities by teaching life-saving skills such as: Bystander CPR, AED Training, Emergency Response and Choking Management in mosques and Islamic centres. Health Promotion

AIMA educates the wider Muslim community in Australia on health such as vaccines and viral infections.

Leadership Course

Advocacy

AIMA advocates for medical aid and a ceasefire in Gaza, mobilised free care for Gazan refugees, and opposed discrimination in healthcare. We support Muslim students and professionals facing Islamophobia or unfair complaints, and continue to stand for justice and equity. AIMA has been collaborating on various research and data collection projects.

Educational & Leadership Programs

AIMA runs CME sessions, workshops, and leadership programs to equip members with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to grow in their careers and serve their communities

Healthy Fast, Healthy Ramadan Initiative

Mindsavers

This initiative is a community-led, spiritually guided response to the growing mental health challenges we face today.

Quba Initiative

The Quba Initiative aims to establish musallahs (prayer spaces) in hospitals and healthcare settings—providing a dedicated place for any Muslim, whether a staff member, patient, or visitor, to pray.

HEAL International

As the medical charity wing of the Australian Islamic Medical Association (AIMA), HEAL will focus on medical relief, charity and serving communities in Australia and abroad through the voluntary efforts of AIMA members.

AIMA’s team of healthcare professionals cover a range of medical and surgical specialities.

We strive to bring together a diverse team of medical 
and allied health professionals who support students 
from these fields and participate in medical projects, community development and awareness raising.

In line with our vision and through our collaborative projects, AIMA strives to make tangible differences in alleviating disease and its socioeconomic impacts by making healthcare accessible to those who need it, 
in Australia and overseas.
