The Australian Islamic Medical Association’s Victoria Chapter (AIMA VIC) hosted a heartwarming catch-up on Sunday 25 May 2025, at the AAIS Mosque in Carlton North. The event offered breakfast and a morning of meaningful connection and reflection, following the success of AIMA’s National Conference in April, which brought together over 500 Muslim healthcare professionals from across the country.

The atmosphere at the gathering was uplifting and filled with a renewed sense of purpose. AIMA VIC members brought with them a spirit of positivity and enthusiasm, eager to reconnect and contribute to AIMA’s ongoing mission.
AIMA VIC Secretary Huda Elmi, who served as the MC, opened the event with a warm welcome followed by Qur’an recitation by Rahman Abdul.

Dr Ashraf Chehata, AIMA’s Vice President of Community Engagement then delivered an uplifting tarbiyah, grounding the morning in purpose and highlighting the upcoming Lifesavers International Day, scheduled for the last week of September.

AIMA VIC President Dr Justin Brown presented the vision, mission, and core values of the organisation, and provided an overview of the Chapter’s impactful initiatives in Victoria. His words reaffirmed AIMA’s commitment to uniting and empowering Muslim healthcare professionals through service and faith.
Dr Yousuf Ahmad, AIMA’s National Advocacy Lead, inspired attendees with a talk on the power of collective advocacy and the importance of using our voices to influence meaningful change.

Rahman Abdul, President of the AIMA VIC Students committee showcased the important work being done by them as they actively mentor, coach and nurture the Muslim identity in the next generation of healthcare professionals.

One of the highlights of the event was the strong and diverse representation from across the healthcare spectrum. For the first time, AIMA VIC welcomed significant participation from nursing, dental, pharmacy and allied health professionals—many of them leaders in their respective fields. The diversity in backgrounds, professions, ethnicities, and age groups made the gathering truly representative and inspiring.

The morning concluded with a heartfelt dua led by Sheikh Bakr As-Saudi.
With renewed momentum and a shared sense of purpose, AIMA VIC looks forward to deeper engagement with its members and continued service to the broader community.
