Australian Islamic Medical Association’s (AIMA) Victoria was out in the community once again, this time at the annual Careers Expo at Al Taqwa College catered to students and their families, on Tuesday 3 September 2024.

AIMA was prepared with a host of professionals medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, physiotherapy, radiography, as well as medical students.

AIMA’s stall, catered to all ages. Our members provided edutainment with little children through anatomy models and live demonstrations of knee-jerk reflexes.

We engaged with high school students to help them find the health profession that suits them along with advice on how to get there. The community at large were also intrigued to see Muslims like them in healthcare wearing scrubs and stethoscopes.

Through representation and interaction AIMA hopes to have achieved three key goals.

1) Inspire children and high school students to grow and pursue an interest in health sciences.

2) Garner greater eagerness amongst the Muslim community to engage with their own health.

3) Encourage other Muslim health professionals to connect and collaborate with AIMA to better develop themselves and their communities.

Ultimately, AIMA was glad to have been invited to Al Taqwa College’s Careers Expo.

Insha Allah our outreach proves to be impactful towards our upcoming generation’s aspirations and the wider Muslim community’s wellbeing. We shall lookout to be out and about amongst our brothers and sisters once more.
